CCKF-NUS Southeast Asia Centre for Chinese Studies

CCKF-NUS Southeast Asia Centre for Chinese Studies (hereafter referred to as the Centre) is the fifth overseas Sinology center established by the Foundation. Upholding the mission of preserving Chinese culture, the Centre is dedicated to promoting forward-looking research in the humanities and social sciences. Leveraging the academic excellence and strategic location of the National University of Singapore, the Centre will delve into Chinese studies across Southeast Asia—including Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia—to strengthen Sinological research from a Southeast Asian perspective and build an international platform for dialogue that connects academic communities in Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and the West.

Professor Chang Woei Ong of the Department of Chinese Studies at the National University of Singapore serves as the Director of the Centre. The Centre’s activities include regularly hosting annual conferences, workshops, graduate student forums, themed lecture series, and international symposia, as well as providing publication subsidies and research travel grants for scholars. Through these initiatives, the Centre hopes to foster forward-looking research outcomes while supporting scholars in these fields to complete their monographs, conduct data collection, and perform fieldwork, thereby advancing Sinological studies in Southeast Asia and promoting international academic exchange.
