The Foundation offers a limited number of travel grants to help fund travel for assistant, associate and full professors to present papers at conferences on subjects related to Chinese Studies. Applications for travel grants should be accompanied by a letter from the chairman of the department with which the applicant is affiliated. Travel grants, up to a maximum of $1,000, are for travel and hotel costs not reimbursed by the conference organizer. Each department of a given university is limited to one application per year. Applications should include a brief (one page) summary of the paper to be delivered and a budget request. Applications should be filed before September 15, or February 15 for conferences to be held during the following six-month period.
Assistant/associate professors from the U.S. and Canada who have not conducted research in Taiwan may apply for a visiting fellowship to visit Taiwan for a short period of time to become acquainted with Taiwanˇ¦s research facilities, including Academia Sinica, the Palace Museum and leading universities. Visiting fellowships will include travel and living costs up to three months. The maximum award for a three-month stay is $10,000. Shorter stays will be prorated. A letter of acceptance from a host institute in Taiwan is required together with the scholarˇ¦s application.
The Foundation's grants provide support for research on Chinese Studies in the humanities and social sciences.
Funding is not provided for capital equipment (including computers and printers), building design, construction, or maintenance.
Funding is not available for university administrative costs including overhead, or endowments.
The Foundation does not subsidize administrative expenses or the purchase of equipment.
The Foundation encourages applications with matching funds from other sources.

All applications must include the following items, in the order listed below:
a. A one-page summary of the proposed project;
b. A detailed itemized budget (If this sum is to be supplemented by
matching funds, please include this information in the budget);
c. A description of the proposed project of no more than 7 pages in
length.
All applications should also include curriculum vitae of the project director and any co-directors, as well as lists of publications over the last five years related to the proposed project, and any relevant supporting materials.
Three copies of each application are required.
Do not send applications by fax or e-mail.
The Foundation will initially direct all messages and correspondence about the applications to respective project directors. If a grant is approved, the CCK Foundation, in most cases, will then correspond with the university's grant administrator to arrange payments over the period of the grant.
The Foundation does not provide a written critique for those applicants who do not receive grants.
The Foundation's application form requests all applicants to indicate the field of specialization for their projects. If the project is multidisciplinary, please specify.
