Getting to Princeton from Newark Airport

(1) NJ Transit (New Jersey public transportation train line; $13.10 one way, $8.65 for senior/child/disabled; $12 for off-peak round trip fare). Stations: Newark Int'l Airport -> Princeton Junction Station or Princeton Station (Northeast Corridor Line & Princeton Branch). Schedules and fares for specific dates can be found at www.njtransit.com, but it runs often -- 2-3 times per hour -- so generally it is easiest to just go to the station and wait for the next train. Tickets can be bought at ticket machines on the way to the station, or on the train ($5 surcharge). Travel time runs around an hour.

Station Information:
+ Newark Int'l Airport station is easily accessible from the airport via an airport tram; look for signs for "NJ Transit" or "Trains". The Northeast Corridor line goes to Princeton Junction Station.
+ Princeton Junction Station is about 3 miles from Nassau Inn. A small train (Princeton Branch) runs from Princeton Junction Station to Princeton Station, and tickets can be purchased from Newark to either Princeton Junction or Princeton. A taxi from Princeton Junction to Nassau Inn is about $10; pay phones are available to call taxis (609-924-1222).
+ Princeton Station is about a half mile from Nassau Inn; walkable, but perhaps difficult with heavy/cumbersome luggage. Guests may also take a cab from Princeton Station to Nassau Inn ($4); payphones are available at Princeton Station.

(2) Airporter ($23 one way) leaves Newark Airport at 7:15am, 9:15, 11:15, 1:15pm, 2:15, 3:15, 4:15, 5:15, 6:15, 7:15, and 8:15 Sunday-Friday, with a reduced schedule on Saturday. They have a regularly scheduled stop at Nassau Inn 1 hour & 45 minutes after leaving Newark (so 7:15-9am, 9:15-11am, etc.). Seats are guaranteed with a reservation (online at www.goairporter.com, or via phone at 1-800-385-4000). Passengers without a reservation may take the next shuttle on a first-come, first-served basis by asking at Newark Airport's Ground Transportation Counter or dialing 22 on the self-service phone.

(3) A-1 Limousine (Princeton-based; 1-800-678-2154) provides door-to-door service throughout New Jersey, with a reservation only. This may be a good option if groups of people are arriving on the same flight or at around the same time. Fares from Newark Airport to Nassau Inn:
Sedan (up to 3 people) = $83 + parking ($5 for up to 2 hours), tolls ($2.05 each way) and gratuity;
Limousine (4-6 people) = $132 + add-ons;
10-passenger van = $182 + add-ons.

Options for travel to Princeton by train:

The closest Amtrak stop to Princeton is Princeton Junction, but Amtrak has only limited Princeton Junction stops. As with NJ Transit above, guests choosing Amtrak may take the NJ Transit Princeton Branch train from Princeton Junction to Princeton Station ($1.80 one way), or may take a cab (~$10). Major nearby transfer points are New York Penn Station (from the north or east) and Philadelphia (from the south or west); many train itineraries will require a transfer in either of these cities. Princeton may also be reached from both of these cities by public transportation, which is cheaper and more frequent but tends to be slower than Amtrak, and from Philadelphia requires an additional transfer (Trenton, where passengers change from Pennsylvania's SEPTA system to New Jersey's NJ Transit).
